Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Positions at the Department of Chemistry, KAIST 2020-03-24

Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Positions at the Department of Chemistry, KAIST

The Department of Chemistry at KAIST (https://chem.kaist.ac.kr) invites applications for tenure-track or tenured positions at all professor levels beginning in the spring of 2021. We seek outstanding candidates in all areas of chemical science, excluding computational chemistry, but are particularly interested in applicants with a research focus in experimental physical chemistry (integrated with materials/nano/bio), organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Exceptional candidates with interests in other areas, including multidisciplinary approaches and new emerging subdisciplines are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a doctorate in chemistry or a related science, and some postdoctoral experience is preferred. Candidates will be expected to establish a creative, vigorous, and independent research program and excel in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels. The Chemistry Department at KAIST places a priority on teamwork, communication, and collaboration among its faculty.

Application process

1.     Submit the following application materials via e-mail (hee-seung_lee@kaist.ac.kr) by May 22, 2020.

-      An application form attached, including the summary of key achievements and plans of

       teaching and research

-      Curriculum Vitae

       *  Do  not  include  personal   information.

      2.     After review, suitable candidates will be contacted and asked to submit three reference letters. (For full

professor or tenured professor positions, six reference letters are required.)

3.     Finalists will be contacted and invited to present a research seminar and give a proposal talk at KAIST.

   Notes

1.     Applications from senior graduate students and junior postdoctoral researchers will be considered.  When appropriate, provisions will be made to allow for additional postdoctoral research after contractually securing a position at KAIST.

2.     We strongly encourage international candidates to apply.

      3.     Junior faculty positions are tenure-track. Under university regulations, faculty members with extraordinary research accomplishments, teaching records, and services to the KAIST community will be granted tenure within a few years.

4.     The Department of Chemistry at KAIST guarantees a competitive start-up package appropriate for the needs of the subdiscipline.
